Junior League of Long Island to Host Community Impact Breakfast

Junior League and Community Leaders to Explore Health and Well-Being Issues on Long Island and Their Impact on Local Women and Children

Roslyn, N.Y. – July 7, 2010, The Junior League of Long Island (www.jlli.org), a nonprofit organization of women volunteers, will be conducting a Community Impact Breakfast on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. at the Manhasset Public Library.  The Junior League is seeking input from community leaders on what it can do as an organization to address the pressing health and well-being issues impacting women and children on Long Island.  Registration information is available at www.jlli.org.

“The Junior League has always been at the forefront of addressing issues impacting local women and children.  Through our many community projects, including Kids in the Kitchen, Project Playground, Compute the Future and First Step, we identify a local need and use our talent, determination and energy to make a positive change on Long Island,” said Shelley Wojtkiewicz, President of The Junior League of Long Island. “The goal of our Community Impact Breakfast is to identify areas that the Junior League of Long Island could potentially impact through the development of new projects and collaborative community partnerships.  We welcome the community’s ideas on the most pressing needs in our area and look forward to a dynamic discussion on how the Junior League can be part of the solution.”

The Junior League of Long Island strives to be the organization of choice for voluntarism and community partnerships to help improve the health and well-being of women and children on Long Island.   Membership is open to all Long Island women over the age of 21.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
