Done In A Day
The principal objective of Done In A Day is to uphold JLLI's tradition of community service by implementing projects that can be brought to fruition within one day. Thereby, it provides aid in a timely and effective manner. This committee will coordinate 1-2 projects per month, develop and implement 3-4 large scale events and identify and participate in events that will promote widespread awareness of JLLI and its mission statement.

Community Build Project Playground
This program is a Junior League "signature project". The project will be implemented over a two-year period. The first year will focus on planning and coordinating, followed by the actual construction of the playground. During the planning phase, style and size of the equipment would be determined and necessary permits. The first year would also involve establishing community support for the building.

Compute the Future
This project will provide a functional Comptuer Center for a needy non-profit Long Island organization. The League would supply and install all necessary equipment including computers, software, desks, chairs, and other miscellaneous equipment if needed. The project will be implemented over a two year period. The first year will focus on planning and coordinating, followed by the second year of the actual building of the Computer Center.

The First Step
This project addresses the needs of women who are in need of professional clothing as they prepare to re-enter the workforce and gain independence. This committee will be in charge of 2 events where residents will be brought to the JLLI Thrift Shop and be given appropriate outfits for their upcoming job interviews.

Kids In the Kitchen
This project addresses the growing issue of childhood obesity and poor nutrition. In this initiative, the League provides information and materials related to healthy eating and nutrition to children and their parents. The children and parents are involved with demonstrations and lessons on how to select and prepare healthy, affordable meals and snacks. The League will supplement this project by including information on how to keep fit through easy at home exercises, proper dental care, proper table manners and grocery shopping skills. The project targets children in grades K to 6.

Community Service Fund
The Community Service Fund grants are awarded to Long Island based non-for-profit organizations that have had JLLI involvements either through coalition, joint endeavors or throught the organization's programs/projects or has had JLLI volunteers involved in their programs.
