Provisional Member Investment/Training Opportunities and Requirements

The Provisional Member will satisfy the training opportunities of the Provisional Training Course as detailed below. The Junior League of Long Island’s program offers formal, informal, and experience training in eight key subjects. This training ensures our members receive hands on experience, developing effective community service and leadership.

Each new member is required to participate/fulfill the following, as part of the Provisional Training Program:

  1. A 30 minute Orientation Session with the Membership Development Team
  2. Satisfy the credit requirement for each of the eight core training subjects.

*These training modules are to be completed within a 12-month period.

  1. Attend two General Membership Meetings (GMM)
  2. Submit payment for Provisional Fee of $20.00 (One-time payment)
  3. Submit payment for Membership Dues of $130.00
  4. Complete two League Project days of service.
  5. Thrift Shop Contribution – Volunteer hours and donation
  6. Fundraiser Support – Volunteer hours and attendance
  7. Attend a Placement Meeting at the completion of all other requirements.

The provisional member understands there are no refunds of Provisional Fees and Membership Dues. For provisional members there will be a prorated dues rate based on The Junior League of Long Island’s July 1st – June 30th fiscal year timeframe.

The Annual Dues fee schedule is as follows:

For members joining;

  • July 1 – September 30 – 100% Dues ($130.00)
  • October 1 – December 31 – 75% Dues ($97.50)
  • January 1 – March 31 – 50% Dues ($65.00)
  • April 1 – June 30 – 25% Dues ($32.50)

Provisional members will also have prorated Thrift Shop requirement based on The Junior League of Long Island’s July 1st – June 30th fiscal year timeframe.

The Thrift Shop Contribution requirement is as follows:

For members joining;

  • July 1 – December 31 – $250.00 estimated value of clothing, housewares, other household items.
  • January 1 – June 30 – $150.00 estimated value of clothing, housewares, other household items.

The Thrift Shop Volunteer Hour requirement is as follows:

For members joining;

  • July 1 – December 31 – 5 Volunteer Hours at the Thrift Shop
  • January 1 – June 30 – 3 Volunteer Hours at the Thrift Shop
