Roslyn, NY, July 8, 2021 – The Junior League of Long Island® (“JLLI”) a nonprofit organization of women volunteers, today announced that Carol St. Jacques of Commack has been appointed President for the upcoming year. The office of the Junior League President is an annual appointment by the JLLI Board of Directors.

As President, Mrs. St. Jacques will be responsible for directing volunteer activities and community projects such as Project Playground, Positively Me and a myriad of “Done In A Day” volunteer opportunities that benefit Suffolk and Nassau Counties.

Mrs. St. Jacques, a member of the Junior League since 2017, has served as the Membership Development Chair for 2 years and held 2 board positions, Member Activities/Training Director and President-Elect. Professionally, she is the Marketing Manager for a manufacturer of Office and School Supplies Company located on Long Island, where she resides with her husband Chris and two sons, Justin and Carter.

“The Junior League of Long Island is an organization like no other. They are a resilient group of women that engage, empower, encourage, and educate one another. They serve the community selflessly and without hesitation. I am beyond proud and humbled to serve as President this year.” said Mrs. St. Jacques.

“As we strive to return to the days of pre-pandemic, we will have our work cut out for us, but our membership has continuously been able to tackle and conquer any obstacle put in their way. This year has given us the tools to think outside-of-the-box, innovate and redesign. It has also given us the chance to reflect, allowing us the opportunity to get ‘Back to Basics.’ Let us use all of these tools to carry out our mission and continue to train our members for leadership positions.” said Mrs. St. Jacques.

The JLLI Board would also like to announce that Cristine Bruno has been appointed President-Elect for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. Ms. Bruno will oversee the Junior League’s Thrift Shop located in the Village of Roslyn. All proceeds from the shop are used to fund the League’s programs that directly benefit communities on Long Island. Ms. Bruno is a resident of Oakland Gardens and has been a member of the Junior League since 2015.
